Patient of the Month: Chikita Garmon

Our November patient of the month is Chikita Garmon, a Chicago resident who is a wife, mother of three, and a medical assistant. Chikita experienced lingering knee pain, and was referred to Genesis by a sports medicine doctor. An MRI showed that two torn meniscus discs on either side of her knee were the source of her pain.

Chikita worked with Dr. Horner to develop a plan, which included surgery and physical therapy. Chikita’s surgery and initial recovery went well, and physical therapy helped get her healed within two months to be able to start her externship as a medical assistant, for which she recently finished school.

Chikita said she appreciated the level of attention and detail that Dr. Horner showed through every step of the process. From explaining the risks of the surgery, to calling her husband to let him know how she was doing post-operation, to making sure she would have her prescription ready by calling it in the day before her procedure, Chikita felt heard and well cared for by Dr. Horner and the rest of the Genesis staff.
