Precise and Reliable Knee Arthroscopy

Effective knee arthroscopy that puts you on the path to moving like you’ve always expected

Total Knee Replacement 1

Your knee is one of the largest and one of the most complex joints in your entire body. Your knee is where the thighbone (femur), shinbone (tibia), and kneecap (patella) meet. It also consists of the cartilage and meniscus that allows your thighbone and shinbone to glide smoothly and absorb contact. The synovium is connective tissue inside of the knee capsule, and it helps support the cartilage by releasing fluid that makes the movement of your knee joint even smoother. Last but not least, ligaments connect bones to other bones to keep the knee joint stable and keep you strong in your daily activities.

These are just a few of the many key parts of your knee working behind the scenes so you can complete your daily activities with ease and strength. And when your knees aren’t working like you’ve always come to expect, it can make it hard to do simple activities like get out of bed or even take a walk across the street. This makes it hard to move freely and live your life as you should. Here at Genesis we are committed to fixing your pain, and bringing you back to feeling like you were twenty years younger. A knee arthroscopy is a simple procedure that helps us at Genesis diagnose what it is happening wrong with your knee so you can get back to working at full capacity.

The cartilage in your knee is located specifically at the end of your femur, tibia, and patella. This cartilage, alongside your meniscus, is crucial to cushion your athletic start, stop and jumping movement. It is aided by the ligaments that connect muscle to bone or tendon. Ligaments are strong and durable bands of tissue that are critical to and having stability throughout your daily movement. Multiple ligament tears can make it nearly impossible to complete daily activities like walking around your home, getting out of bed, going to the bathroom, or any other kind of normal movement you should expect from your body. Even one ligament tear puts you at increased risk of being in such a vulnerable situation.

Just like the many components of a car, the many components of your knee can be worn down over time. This doesn’t mean you have done anything wrong! Sometimes your knee, like a car, needs a little cleanup, and a knee arthroscopy here at Genesis can be the first step on that recovery. With modern medicine, the knee arthroscopy has become a quick, non-invasive, yet effective procedure. Your doctor should be able to view the knee joint without cutting through your soft tissue. The surgeon simply makes a few small incisions, called portals, into your knee.  A sterile solution will be used to clean your knee, allowing the insertion of a small camera, known as an arthroscope, into the knee joint. This arthroscope will project an image of your knee, allowing our surgeon to determine what kind of immediate surgical treatment is necessary. Next, any kind of interventions will be completed with very small and precise surgical equipment, reliving your pain. Lastly, your surgeon will close all of the incisions and your healing process will begin! This is in stark contrast to the more expensive and invasive knee surgeries that require large open incisions into your knee. Thanks to modern medicine, our team at Genesis can see the interior of your knee without causing you the undue pain and recovery time, all at an affordable cost.

You may be a good candidate for a knee arthroscopy if you have pain that hasn’t been relieved with nonsurgical treatments. It can also be used to repair a torn meniscus, torn cartilage, out of place kneecap, or clean any kind of infection. It is used to primarily diagnose and treat a variety of knee injuries.

We have some of the best medical technology in the world here at Genesis Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, and we know exactly what steps to take to ensure you have the best knee arthroscopy experience possible. We even promise that you will walk out on the same day, with much more knowledge about your knee pain and a clear treatment plan to relieve it, if it is not already relieved.

Knee Replacement

"What should I expect after a knee arthroscopy surgery?"

"Correctly-performed surgery by expert medical professionals is the key to everything here"

A typical patient should expect:

  • The surgery should take less than an hour for most patients
  • You will be out of the hospital and back home on the same-day
  • You will have swelling for the first few days – use ice as recommended to relieve this swelling and pain
  • You should have a follow-up appointment a few days  to remove the dressing and begin any treatment plan

Our care model at Genesis Orthopedics & Sports Medicine is oriented around reducing your pain effectively, reliably, and efficiently. We are committed to improving care by reducing complications and the post operation pain/time of recovery. Although the risk of complications are extremely low for arthroscopic surgery, the primary concerns are infection, bleeding, and knee stiffness. We work with you before your procedure to create a clear plan of surgery so that once the knee arthroscopy begins, it is completed in a timely manner without complication. We use anesthesia and a knee stabilizer to put you in a position of comfort and security throughout the procedure. Altogether this reduces any residual pain and decreases recovery time/chance of infection. We will walk you through this process to help you feel as comfortable as we are in improving your ability to live life freely.
