In late December, a 63-year-old housekeeper began experiencing progressively worsening pain in her right knee. Her initial assumption \u2014 and that of her primary care provider \u2014 was that this was a gout flare, a condition she had experienced before.<\/span><\/p>

When conservative measures failed to provide relief, she came to Genesis Orthopedics in January for a specialist evaluation. Despite initial treatment with oral steroids and activity modification, the pain persisted at a level that required:<\/span> <\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/p>
